We’re so excited to have finally started our IKEA kitchen remodel! If you’ve been following us for a while, you might remember how we (enthusiastically) had planned to be done with the kitchen before Christmas. Well, things take a gazillion times longer in real life and we had to push the kitchen reno project into the new year. But now we’re ready and so the kitchen story begins!
To document the stories and progress, Adrian and I decided to record a video each week to chat about our experiences, the ups + downs, the good and the bad. Going into this kitchen adventure, we had scoured the internet for hours, devouring anything we could find on IKEA kitchens, honed marble and progress blog posts. Now it’s our turn to share and we hope it will inspire you to make your remodeling dreams come to life – big or small ♥
Week 1 / Talking About Marble
Today, as we finish week one of our IKEA kitchen reno, we’re excited to share this first kitchen webisode with you! We talk about why we chose honed marble and what we love so much about it. We share our stories of finding a fabricator and visiting stone warehouses to find the perfect slab – and the entire process it requires. We chat about how we were able to drop the price of our marble counters significantly to fit the budget and lastly we list what we’re hoping to tackle in week two.
The Boston Granite Exchange stone warehouse is massive and so impressive!
You guys, THIS is our slab!! Eeeeeks!! It’s a Carrara Bianco Extra in 3cm and we just fell in love with the bold veining, the little freckly specks and the soft clouds… Perfection ♥
Left: Every stone warehouse has it’s own system on how they price their stones. Here we had colorful stickers. You have no idea on the pricing until you send this number to your fabricator and get back their estimate. A tedious process… Right: They move slabs with ginormous cranes!
In marble heaven…
