IKEA Kitchen Reno / Floors & Lower Cabinets

Another week, another load of work done in the kitchen! We’re really getting somewhere with this and the exciting part – putting in the cabinets – has started! Hope you enjoy the next episode of our little kitchen reno vlog 🙂

Week 4 / Floors & Lower Cabinets

This week gave us some serious changes visually! We started by exchanging a couple of cabinets at IKEA. Then we sanded for two days straight, which made the room look so beautiful, welcoming and warm! Gone are the nasty red floors 🙂 After cleaning the dust, Adrian started to install the lower cabinets, while I headed back to IKEA again to get some more cabinets… Lesson of the week? Stay flexible! LOL

The open room has these newish shiplap planks installed, a beautiful pine.

The kitchen has older oak boards. Both came out very pretty after sanding them with a large sander we rented at Home Depot.

Leya & I putting together the last cabinets… Yep, she always has to be in the middle of the action 😉

Leveling out the lower cabinets was quite the task. Especially since our house is 227 years old and the floors and walls are waaaaay off.

A beautiful mess…

The inside of the kitchen, lowers are installed and bolted down into the floor with big screws! These babies are not going anywhere anytime soon!

And the view from the dining area. To get maximum storage space and make the kitchen flow beautifully with the rest of the room, we opted for a 30″ drawer cabinet next to the bar area. So excited to see it all coming together!
