Just in time for Thanksgiving, this chocolate cake is like a chocolate heaven on earth! It’s texture is feather light, yet it holds a beautiful punch of chocolate, without being overly sweet. Ground nuts give it an earthy taste and best of all, this easy chocolate cake recipe is about as simple as they come!
Years ago, I started to experiment with chocolate cake recipes. I’m not a huge cake eater, they’re usually too heavy and sweet for me. So I set out to craft a cake that would be light, not overly sweet, but most of all, delicious and chocolaty!
125 g Unbleached All Purpose Flour
140 g Sugar
1 Pinch of Salt
50 g Unsalted Butter
155 g Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
1 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
1 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 Cup Milk
4 Tbsp Ground Hazel or Almond Nuts
Easy Chocolate Cake Recipe
1 In a stand mixer bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt and eggs. Whisk together until the mixture becomes lighter in color.
2 Melt the Butter as well as the Chocolate. Then work quickly to whisk them into the mixture.
TIP: Melting Chocolate is super simple! Add measured amount into a bowl, pour boiling water over the chocolate and let sit for about 3 minutes. With a toothpick or fork, check if the chocolate is melted, then gently pour out the water.
3 Add cocoa powder, baking powder, milk and nuts. Whisk until evenly combined.
4 Preheat oven to 410F – use convection setting if available.
5 Oil a 9 or 10 inch round springform pan and pour the mixture into the pan. Spread out evenly.
6 Bake at 410F for 19 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Remove from oven and let cool on a rack. Then, while still warm, remove the springform and sprinkle the top with powdered sugar.
