About House of Menig

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.     by Mark Twain

Our Story

Adrian and I met in 2005 and it was love at first sight. After close to five years of long distance relationship, I packed up my young life, said good-bye to my family in Switzerland and moved all the way across the globe to California. We got married in 2010, me being just shy of 20. The best decision I ever made.

In 2015 we started to dream. We dreamed of a more simple & relaxed life. We dreamed to live in a place with seasons, plenty of snow and a rich history. We wanted to start over and make a completely new and different life for ourselves. Put down roots in a place that would give us joy.

We found that place in New Hampshire.

After plenty of back and forth, we decided to follow our hearts, throw off the bowlines and sail away! We found a perfectly imperfect old home in the historic district of a darling New England town. A house that is perfect to let our remodeling and decorating hearts run wild!

We’re excited to share the next chapters of our journey with you!

This Blog

Being a wedding photographer, I love to create & capture beautiful moments. But I’m also passionate about inspiring people. This blog is all about this new life we created for ourselves, the main focus being on the house. Renovation stories, travel adventures, DIYs & project tutorials, homemade stuff from the kitchen and random thoughts. It’s a place for us to be creative and share our crazy story, in hopes that it might inspire someone else to throw off the bowlines and sail away!

The 1790s New England Colonial & Our Aesthetic

Growing up in Switzerland, my interior design aesthetic is just as much about looks as it is about simplicity and function. I’m naturally drawn to the Scandinavian style of living minimally and yet making each space into something you absolutely love.

Cozy, Simple & Trendy perfectly sum up what we’re after. We love nothing more than to cuddle up on the couch with a mug of coffee or Glühwein and simply watch the world go by.

We’re excited to marrying the old charm of this historic colonial with modern function & clean lines. Creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that’s soothing and inspiring all at the same time.
